Due to overwhelming demand, starting on March 23, the Gallery will offer extended hours every Friday evening until 9pm for the duration of the Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg exhibition, on view through May 6.

Scan Codes

Look for Facebook Messenger Codes throughout the exhibition Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg to discover more about the artworks on display.

To scan a Messenger Code:
1. Activate the camera in your Facebook Messenger app
2. Press your screen and hold until a circle appears
3. Hold your camera up to the Messenger Code and centre it in the circle
4. Messenger will automatically scan the code and a direct message will be sent to your phone

Every Tuesday evening from 5-9pm

Every Tuesday evening, admission to the Gallery is by donation. Your donation is important and we are very grateful. All donations help support incredible Gallery programs such as School Programs, Teen Art Group, Weekly Family Programs, Restoration, and so much more.

Senior Mondays Tours

1st Monday of every month, from 10am-1pm

On the 1st Monday of every month the Gallery offers admission by donation for all seniors (65+), along with special guided tours. Find out more »



Coatcheck is available during Gallery hours. Please note that backpacks, cameras, food, drinks, large bags and umbrellas are not permitted in the gallery spaces and must be checked.


The Vancouver Art Gallery is wheelchair accessible. Street-level access is available through our Hornby and Robson street entrances, open during all public hours. Wheelchairs are available to visitors on a first-come first-served basis or may be reserved in advance of your visit by calling 604.662.4700. A Service Animal may accompany a visitor to all public areas of the Vancouver Art Gallery. Please ask our admissions staff for the locations of washrooms on each floor.
