Library and Archives
ABOUT
The Vancouver Art Gallery Library is a non-circulating research collection specializing in contemporary, modern and Canadian art. The Library holdings include more than 50,000 books and exhibition catalogues, 30 journal subscriptions and 5,000 artist files that document painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, Indigenous art, video and emerging art forms.
The Archives contain the official records of the Gallery since its founding in 1931 and the personal papers of some British Columbia artists and writers, including painter and educator B.C. Binning. Research in the Archives is by appointment.
