Drop in on Sundays to get creative as a family!

Every Sunday from 12 to 4 PM, the Gallery offers interactive activities designed for the whole family.

Explore, chat and play in the exhibition spaces with our team of Art Agents. Then experiment with the materials, processes and ideas that you see in the artworks on display in The Making Place.

Sundays are a great day to introduce your kids to art at the Gallery and continue to inspire their creativity.

FREE for children 12 and under, when accompanied by an adult.

Activities are designed for visitors aged 5- to 12-years-old, but all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.

February 9: Paint Textures and Brushstrokes

Inspired by the forests of the Pacific Northwest Coast, Emily Carr often experimented with brushstrokes and paint textures while travelling throughout the province. She even added gasoline to her oil paints, making it very thin and easy to create quick sketches with loose lines that captured the energy of the forest.

ACTIVITY: Experiment with paint textures by adding natural materials to tempera paint to build your own forest painting layer by layer.
