Join us for an afternoon with artist Odera Igbokwe as they share their practice, studio space, thoughts, dreams, hopes, desires and stories.
Igbokwe’s artwork explores storytelling, spirituality, sacred traditions and folklore from the African diaspora. Born of Nigerian parents who immigrated to the United States, Igbokwe explores and responds to the conditions of diasporic identity, queer magic and the vibrant manifestations of embodied knowledge.
As the city of Vancouver celebrates Pride, this invitation is an opportunity to continue conversations around spreading love through a lens that is Black, queer, non-binary and magical.
Jenn Jackson, a guest curator of Vancouver Special: Disorientations and Echo, will be facilitating this event, along with a soon-to-be-announced special guest.
Visit the Gallery to experience Odera Igbokwe’s work in Vancouver Special: Disorientations and Echo from now through January 2, 2022.
