Self-Guided Visits

Self-guided visits allow school groups to navigate any of the featured exhibitions in the Gallery on their own.

The maximum capacity is 30 students with up to 6 adult chaperones. We require 1 adult chaperone for every 6 elementary students and 1 adult chaperone for every 10 secondary students.

Children and youth aged 18 and under always visit FREE. Please note that admission for adult chaperones is not free, and each adult will be required to pay the reduced admission rate of $25 + GST.

All self-guided group visits must be booked in advance. To book, please contact learn@vanartgallery.bc.ca and provide the details of your request.

Please review the following guidelines before your visit:

  • It is essential to prepare your group for their visit using the Teacher Study Guides, available here »
  • When you arrive, please check in at the Admissions Desk, located in the Gallery Lobby.
  • Lockers are available in the Lobby to store students’ belongings.
  • Adult chaperones must always accompany students during your visit.
  • There is underground parking nearby in the Robson Square parking lot at Howe and Nelson Streets. Follow the underground signs to blue UBC area. Parking is also available in the parkade at Howe and Georgia Streets. The closest SkyTrain stops are Granville or Burrard or City Centre on the Canada Line.
