BECOMING A GALLERY MEMBER

Can I apply my paid Gallery admission ticket towards an annual membership on the day of my visit?

 

Yes, you may apply your admission towards a membership purchase on the day of your visit. Please present your ticket, online order number or receipt to staff at the Membership Desk to redeem this offer.

If I purchase a Gallery Membership today, when will it expire?

 

Your membership will expire one year from the last day of the calendar month in which it was purchased. For example, if you purchase a membership on October 8, 2021, it will expire on October 31, 2022.

 

If you renew your membership before it expires, the expiration date of your membership is extended by one full year from the date that your current membership expired. For example, if your current membership expires on January 31, 2022, and you renew on December 1, 2021, your new expiration date will be January 31, 2023.

 

What are the benefits of becoming a Gallery Member?

 

Each level of membership offers a variety of benefits. Core benefits of a Gallery Membership include unlimited complimentary admission for a full year. Making a deeper commitment to the Vancouver Art Gallery brings additional benefits.

Monthly Access Pass

Can I cancel and re-subscribe each month for the Monthly Subscription option?

Yes, a one-time fee of $29 is required each time you re-activate your monthly subscription.

 

What’s the difference between a Monthly Subscription Pass and the Annual Access Pass?

Both the Monthly Subscription Pass and Annual Access Pass offer the same benefits, unlimited individual admission to the Gallery and regular email communications. The Monthly Subscription Pass is a flexible payment plan that charges you on a monthly basis rather than a one-time annual fee.

We've Gone Digital!

The Gallery is excited to launch a new membership and ticket-booking system. With our new platform, purchasing or renewing your membership, booking your timed-entry tickets and reserving your spot at events will be fast, simple, clear and intuitive across all your devices.

 

To login, simply use your Member ID and the last name of the primary member on your account. Your new membership card will be digital.

 

I have a physical membership card. Do I still need this card?

 

No, the digital membership card is all you need to visit the Gallery or attend events.

 

I don’t have an email address. Can I still use my physical membership card?

 

Yes, you will still be able to use your existing membership card.

 

If you would like to continue using your physical membership card, please visit the Membership Desk after renewing your membership to get an updated expiry decal for your physical card. Your new expiry decal will be ready in 10 business days from the date of your renewal purchase.

 

I no longer have my old membership card. Can I get a new one?

 

A digital membership card can be emailed to you to replace your physical card. Your digital membership card is all you need to gain entry to the Gallery or to book tickets for member events.

 

If you wish to get a new physical membership card, there is a $5 replacement fee. Please visit the Membership Desk in the Gallery Lobby to have a new card printed.

 

I can’t find the email with my digital membership card. Can I get it re-sent?

How do I login to book a ticket?

 

To reserve your member tickets in advance, you will now need to login using your Member ID and your account’s Primary Member’s last name.

 

This information can be found in your email confirmation from when you purchased or renewed your membership.

USING YOUR GUEST PASSES

How do I book my guest an admission to the Gallery? How do I book a guest using my guest passes?

As of July 1, 2022, the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Membership Program has changed. Please note the different benefits available.

 

Gallery Members currently on the old Membership Program receive two one-time-use guest passes as part of their membership benefits. In our new system, these guest passes are now saved digitally as part of your member profile. Gallery Members with Level 2 or 3 Memberships in the new program receive three one-time-use guest passes as part of their membership benefits.

 

When you login online as a member to book your tickets, you can add a general admission ticket to your cart, and, because you are logged in as a member, the system will know you have two allotted guest passes, and the price of your admission ticket will be fully discounted to $0.

 

Once you have used your allotment of guest passes, the system will no longer discount the extra admission in your card, and you will see the regular charge for your additional tickets. Admission for active members is always free.

 

How do I know when I’ve used my allotment of guest passes?

To see how many guest passes you have remaining on your account, login to the website as a member and add a general admission ticket to your cart. If there is no discount applied to the admission ticket, both of your guest passes have already been used.

Current Members

How do I stay up to date with Gallery news and exhibitions?

 

Active members receive weekly email communications about exhibitions, public programs and events happening at the Gallery. Additionally, active members renewal notices by email.

 

If you have not received any communications from the Gallery within 15 business days of purchasing your membership, please contact us by email at membership@vanartgallery.bc.ca or call 604.662.4711.

How do I receive invitations to exclusive members-only events?

Active members on the old Membership Program will receive invitations to Member Openings via email.

 

Active members in Level 2 or 3 of the new program will receive email invitations to Member Opening and exclusive special offers.

I have been a member for a number of years but have not received any emails from the Vancouver Art Gallery. How do I address this problem?

 

As an active member, you should receive weekly email communications about exhibitions, public programs and events happening at the Gallery. You should also receive invitations to Members Openings, exclusive special offers and renewal notices by email.

 

If you have not been receiving any communications from the Gallery within 10 to 15 business days of purchasing your membership, please contact us at membership@vanartgallery.bc.ca.

RENEWING MEMBERS

How do I renew my membership?

  • Online:
    If you would like to renew your Gallery Membership online, please click here »
  • By phone:
    To renew your membership by phone, please call 604.662.4711. Membership Services are available by phone from Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM.
  • In person:
    Please visit the Membership Desk in the Gallery Lobby. The desk is open 7 days a week daily during the Gallery’s regular hours, and Membership Desk staff will be happy to assist you.

I have just renewed my membership online. Will I receive a new membership card in the mail?

 

We’ve gone digital! When you renew your membership, you will receive an email with your new digital membership card. Your digital membership card will include have your membership information including your updated expiry date.

 

I received my digital membership card by email. Do I still need to show my old physical membership card when I visit the Gallery?

 

No, on your next visit to the Gallery, all you will need to show is your digital membership card from your mobile phone.

 

If you would prefer to continue using your physical card instead of the digital version, you are welcome to do so. Please visit the Membership Desk after renewing your membership to get an updated expiry decal for your physical card. Your new expiry decal will be ready in 10 business days from the date of your renewal purchase.

GIFT OF MEMBERSHIP

How do I purchase a membership as a gift for a friend or family member?

An individual can purchase two types of gifts:

  1. Gift of Membership
    A Gift of Membership is active upon purchase. Memberships will expire one year from the last day of the calendar month in which it was purchased. (For example, if you purchase a Gift of Membership on October 8, 2021, the recipient’s membership will expire on October 31, 2022.)
  2. Gift Certificate
    An individual can purchase a membership that will be activated upon redemption by the gift recipient.

  • Online:
    If you would like to purchase a Gift of Membership online please visit the Gift of Membership page.
  • By Phone:
    Please call 604.662.4711, and we can process a Gift of Membership for you. Our Membership phone line is available during Gallery hours.
  • In Person:
    Please visit the Membership Desk in the Gallery Lobby during regular hours, and the Membership Desk staff will be happy to assist you.
