Join the Associates, a dynamic member group dedicated to fostering arts appreciation through social and arts education activities and deeper engagement with the Vancouver and international art scene. Associate members support the work of the Gallery through annual fundraising events and travel programs.

Special Events and Travel Programs

Associates are invited to attend the following exclusive special events and art travel programs, to which additional fees apply.
  • Occasional visits to private art collections and corporate collections
  • Opportunities to tour public art in the Vancouver area with knowledgeable guides
  • Invitations to local, national and international art travel programs. Recent cities visited include Paris, Montreal, New York and Victoria
  • Invitations to the Associates' Annual Gala
  • Opportunities to socialize with other visual arts supporters over fine food in attractive venues

Whistler, BC

Associates Whistler Tour

Join the Associates for a special day tour of the Audain Art Museum and experience the art of British Columbia. View works by the province’s First Peoples through to contemporary Masters. We will also be viewing the Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery that features 75 paintings by world-renowned artists.

8:30am departure by deluxe coach from the Gallery Hornby St. entrance
8:45am from the east Park Royal Parkade at Clyde Ave. and Taylor Way (Parking is permitted in the Parkade for the day)
Special greeting at the Audain Art Museum with docent led tours of both the exhibitions including admissions
Lunch at one of Whistler’s well-known restaurants
Free time to explore the Village before returning to Vancouver
Return to the Gallery via Park Royal at approximately 6pm

Join the Associates for 6 night 5 day guided Art and History tour of Berlin. Enjoy privately guided tours of major museums, the Reichstag and other historical sites and exclusive access to artist studios and private art collections, as well as sightseein. Programming and educational activities are free benefits for all Associates. Non-member guests are welcome on a one-time basis and for a fee of $20.

Art in the Morning/Art in the Evening

The Associates meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30pm and on the third Friday of the month at 10am for a guided tour of a current Gallery exhibition.

Organized by Darlene Forrester. Tuesday tours start at 5:30pm, Friday tours at 10am, followed by discussion & coffee in room 100. Please register at or phone 604.327.4874. Meet at coat check in the lobby.

Monday Morning Art Study Group

The study group meets Every second Monday in room 302 of the Vancouver Art Gallery to view art DVDs, listen to talks and enjoy discussion, or occasionally to hear a speaker. Sessions typically run from 11am to noon.

Plan to arrive in time for the start of the program at 11am, or come early for refreshments and socializing. Note that the schedule below does not follow the usual pattern due to the Associates’ trip to Winnipeg and the May holiday Monday.

Art Studio Visits

Throughout the year, the Associates also visit artist studios to witness first-hand the artist's creative process and to discuss his or her work. Visits to commercial galleries and galleries are occasionally offered.
