Taking Walker Evans’ well known exhortation to “Stare, pry, listen, eavesdrop. Die knowing something” as a starting point, this exhibition will feature photographic works that evoke a fixed and concentrated gaze on the part of artist and viewer. Drawn from the gallery’s permanent collection, the exhibition will feature work by artists such as Roy Arden, Bernd and Hilla Becher, John Coplans, Barbara Probst and Mark Ruwedel among others.
Organized by the Vancouver Art Gallery and curated by Grant Arnold, Audain Curator of British Columbia Art
