Weekly Family Programs
Sun Sep 29, 2019 | 12–4 PM

Every Sunday, the Gallery offers unique activities geared toward 5- to 12-year-old visitors and their families. Throughout the month of September, we will continue to investigate the exhibition Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time as well as Vikky Alexander: Extreme Beauty and Robert Rauschenberg 1965-1980.
All activities are free for children aged 12 & under, when accompanied by an adult. Adult participation is with admission or free for Gallery Members.
Join our team of curious, funny and informed Art Agents as they bring the Gallery’s exhibitions to life. They engage with the exhibitions through in-gallery activities, questions, and conversations relating to what your family notices about the artworks on display.
Then move on to The Making Place which offers art-making activities inspired by the materials and processes that you see in the exhibitions on display. Drop in any time between 12 and 4 PM to take part.

September 29: Vikky Alexander and Artificial Nature
Vikky Alexander explores the use of images in pop culture and consumerism, playing with the power of the image when you change its original purpose. Alexander’s work with nature brings nature into consumerism. She references the images as a dreamlike essence in reflection to the wall decoys that were popular for city dwellers, bringing the outside in. Alexander is transforming nature into culture.
We will be looking at this idea of artificial nature and transforming interiors within Vikky Alexander’s work. Families are invited to create their own miniature space using different materials. We will be looking at how Alexander’s work transports the view, yet grounds us with the broken elements within the images.
