In the Gallery

Every Sunday, the Gallery offers unique activities geared toward 5- to 12-year-old visitors and their families. Throughout the month of September, we will continue to investigate the exhibition Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time as well as Vikky Alexander: Extreme Beauty and Robert Rauschenberg 1965-1980.

All activities are free for children aged 12 & under, when accompanied by an adult. Adult participation is with admission or free for Gallery Members.

Join our team of curious, funny and informed Art Agents as they bring the Gallery’s exhibitions to life. They engage with the exhibitions through in-gallery activities, questions, and conversations relating to what your family notices about the artworks on display.

Then move on to The Making Place which offers art-making activities inspired by the materials and processes that you see in the exhibitions on display. Drop in any time between 12 and 4 PM to take part.

The Making Place Activity

September 15: Vikky Alexander: Extreme Beauty and Robert Rauschenberg 1965-1980
Vikky Alexander: Extreme Beauty and Robert Rauschenberg 1965-1980 explore the world of consumerism and appropriation in two different conversations: Alexander is unpacking the images that surround us while Rauschenberg is focused on experimenting with different materials. Both artists approach mass media and pop culture within their artwork, which ignite an initial interest in the audience.

We will be looking at the different materials that were used by the different artists throughout the exhibition. There are stylistic changes through the mediums that were used. Families are invited to make their own image using transfers, pop icon images, and collage materials to create their own message from today’s world.
