In the Gallery

Every Sunday, the Gallery offers unique activities geared toward 5- to 12-year-old visitors and their families. Throughout the month of September, we will continue to investigate the exhibition Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time as well as Vikky Alexander: Extreme Beauty and Robert Rauschenberg 1965-1980.

All activities are free for children aged 12 & under, when accompanied by an adult. Adult participation is with admission or free for Gallery Members.

Join our team of curious, funny and informed Art Agents as they bring the Gallery’s exhibitions to life. They engage with the exhibitions through in-gallery activities, questions, and conversations relating to what your family notices about the artworks on display.

Then move on to The Making Place which offers art-making activities inspired by the materials and processes that you see in the exhibitions on display. Drop in any time between 12 and 4 PM to take part.

The Making Place Activity

September 1: Giacometti and his art community
Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time not only looks at the artwork of Alberto Giacometti, but also reflects on the conversations happening within the artist community. Jean Dubuffet was an artist looking for more authentic portals of the real and with that often used everyday materials to create his artwork.

Families will look closely at how Jean Dubuffet’s artwork aligned with similar ideas of Giacometti. We will be using different everyday materials to create our own prints, experimenting with different textures and designs.
