Weekly Family Programs:
Displacement of the Street
Sun Jul 7, 2019 | 12–4 PM

Every Sunday, the Gallery offers unique activities geared toward 5 to 12-year-old visitors and their families. Throughout the month of July, we will continue to investigate the exhibitions Views of the Collection: The Street, as well as the recently opened Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time.
All activities are free for children aged 12 & under, when accompanied by an adult. Adult participation is with admission or free for Gallery Members.
Join our team of curious, funny and informed Art Agents as they bring the Gallery’s exhibitions to life. They engage with the exhibitions through in-gallery activities, questions, and conversations relating to what your family notices about the artworks on display.
Then move on to The Making Place which offers art-making activities inspired by the materials and processes that you see in the exhibitions on display. Drop in any time between 12 and 4 PM to take part.
The Making Place Activity
July 7: Displacement of the Street
Views of the Collection: The Street reflects on the layers of history that are underneath the urban landscape. The artwork represents people’s lives and the movement of communities and cultures over time. The images create a narrative of place, displacement, and everyday people. We will look at the different layers of history and narrative in the artwork. Families are invited to create their images that reflect a story or culture, using colours and photographs. What story will you tell? How do the artistic choices add to the story? What do the people represent?
