Sundays are a great day to introduce your kids to art at the Gallery and continue to inspire their creativity.
FREE for children 12 and under, when accompanied by an adult.
Activities are designed for visitors aged 5- to 12-years-old, but all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.

FEBRUARY 2: Painting with Rhythm, Repetition and Abstraction
Beatrice Lennie is considered to be one of the first artists working in British Columbia to experiment with abstraction. In 1938, she painted The Atom using simple and repetitive shapes, lines and colours to represent not an atom itself but the energy it contained.
ACTIVITY: Think about ideas of energy, rhythm and movement while looking at the artworks on view in Rapture, Rhythm and the Tree of Life: Emily Carr and Her Female Contemporaries. What kinds of shapes and lines do you notice repeating? Inspired by what you see, create your own abstract painting expressing energy.
