Weekly Family Programs
Sun Aug 4, 2019 | 12–4 PM

Every Sunday, the Gallery offers unique activities geared toward 5 to 12-year-old visitors and their families. Throughout the month of August, we will continue to investigate the exhibition Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time.
All activities are free for children aged 12 & under, when accompanied by an adult. Adult participation is with admission or free for Gallery Members.
Join our team of curious, funny and informed Art Agents as they bring the Gallery’s exhibitions to life. They engage with the exhibitions through in-gallery activities, questions, and conversations relating to what your family notices about the artworks on display.
Then move on to The Making Place which offers art-making activities inspired by the materials and processes that you see in the exhibitions on display.
Drop in any time between 12 and 4 PM to take part.
The Making Place Activity
August 4: A Line Through Time
Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time looks at the process of creating through the eyes of Alberto Giacometti. He focused on capturing his perspective of what is real. Within this process, he draws the subject matter multiple times. He notes, ‘Drawing is the basis of everything,’ firmly believing that drawing is the foundation to creativity and that realism is felt at the sight of the subject. Families will look closely at how Giacometti would study his subjects and how his drawings captured the likeness or realism. For Giacometti, every line is essential and important to the drawing. We will be practicing our own drawing with a focus on the importance of the line.
