The Making Place | Design Vancouver Festival Edition

Sun Sep 20, 2026 | 11 AM–4 PM

Room 4East

Join us for The Making Place every Sunday!

Get creative during your next Sunday visit to the Gallery. Head upstairs to Room 4East on the 4th Floor between 11 AM and 4 PM to explore your artistic side and make your own work inspired by the art on display.

Activities are led by the Gallery’s knowledgeable Art Educators, but there is no formal instruction. Drop in to create and connect!

This Sunday, in celebration of the Design Vancouver Festival, create your own hanging mobile inspired by the work of B.C. Binning, an artist, architect and designer featured in Highlights from the Collection. Using coloured paper and other materials, experiment with balance, shape and colour, while exploring the principles of design to create a unique hanging sculpture to take home. We will also create circle collages inspired by the work of Victor Vasarely.

At 2 PM, join a Family Tour of the exhibition Highlights from the Collection.

Guided Family Tours are designed for visitors aged 5 to 12 years old and their families, and they are a great way to delve deeper into the exhibitions together. Sign up for a same-day tour on the day of your visit in The Making Place.

The Making Place is open to all ages and is included with Gallery admission. Admission is always free for Gallery Members, Access Pass Holders and children and youth aged 18 and under. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
