The Making Place

Sun Jul 24, 2022 | 10:30 AM–12 PM

1st Floor Rotunda

The Making Place is back once a month on Sundays! Join us to discover new ways to understand art through interactive activities designed for the whole family.

First, explore, chat and play in the exhibition spaces with the Gallery’s team of Art Educators. Then, experiment with the materials, processes and ideas that you see in the artworks on display in a hands-on studio workshop.

Capacity for this event is limited. Registration is required. The first workshop will begin promptly at 10:30 AM, and the second will begin at 1:30 PM. Each workshops will run for an hour and a half. Please meet the Art Educator in the 1st Floor Rotunda to start your experience!

BOOK YOUR SPOT

How can soft sculptures tell a story? Soft sculptures are sculptures created by using soft, flexible, bendable or cushiony materials.

On Sunday, July 24, explore the work of Kimsooja, Evelyn Roth and Joyce Wieland in the exhibition Kids Take Over with our team of Art Educators, then join us in The Making Place as we use upcycled fabrics, textiles, cotton batting, symbols and fabric markers to re-imagine the possibilities of what a sculpture can do!

What will you create that represents your own stories and culture?

Participating in The Making Place is a great way to introduce your kids to art at the Gallery and continue to inspire their creativity.

FREE for children 12 and under, when accompanied by an adult. Free for members or with Gallery Admission.

Activities are designed for visitors aged 5- to 12-years-old, but all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
