Join us for an after-hours tour of the exhibition Otani Workshop: Monsters in My Head, led by Yvette Salazar, Membership Program Assistant and Gallery Art Educator.
This special event is offered exclusively to Experiences Members and above, plus one guest.
The tour will lead you through the whimsical world of Japanese artist Otani Workshop, where you will discover ceramic sculptures and paintings brimming with presence and personality.
Visitors will encounter works inspired by the Pacific Northwest Coast, made during Otani’s Deer Lake Artist Residency at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in the summer of 2024. Other sculptures—produced in the artist’s studio on Awaji Island, situated on the Seto Inland Sea of Japan—draw on the deep traditions of ceramic-making but are shaped by his own intuitive experimentation.
Advance registration is required. Members are welcome to bring one guest.
