Immerse yourself in the work of one of British Columbia’s most iconic artists at this special afternoon tour and tea, reserved exclusively for Gallery Members, Access Pass Holders and their guests.
Join fellow art lovers for an enchanted afternoon inspired by the life and work of beloved BC artist Emily Carr (1871–1945). The event will begin with a guided tour of That Green Ideal: Emily Carr and the Idea of Nature, the Vancouver Art Gallery’s largest exhibition of Carr’s work in more than twenty years.
Featuring more than 100 paintings and drawings, the exhibition explores Carr’s enduring fascination with the landscape of the Pacific Northwest, examining her artworks and writings to consider how she understood nature and her relationship to it. Discover how Carr transformed her close observations of the forests and landscapes of BC through a modernist visual language, seeking to express something deeper and almost spiritual within the natural world.
Following the tour, continue the experience across the road at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s Notch8 Tea Salon with a welcome glass of bubbly and a private seating in Among the Trees with Emily Carr, a special afternoon tea created in collaboration with the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Inspired by Carr’s celebrated landscapes and vibrant spirit, the tea offers a culinary journey through the province, with beautifully crafted treats in an immersive setting inspired by the artist and the forests she loved.
