Lunar New Year is a special time that brings friends and family together for festivity, rituals and traditions. While many cultures across Asia share traditions, there are also many that are unique to each country’s cultural identity. During Lunar New Year, food is especially important! Sharing a meal allows us to engage and connect without learning another language or stepping onto a plane, and the same goes for cinema. Through the lens of imagination and creativity, food and film are a gateway to cultural identities!

Between Bites: Film + Food celebrates Lunar New Year at the Gallery with food, friends and film for a festive night. Ring in the Year of the Rabbit (or Cat in some cultures) with us as we celebrate cross-cultural dialogue and our rich cultural fabric.

The feature film on January 26 will be Letter to A’Ma (給阿媽的一封信), a documentary directed by Hui-Ling Chen that commemorates Taiwan’s complex history and postcolonial identity through art. Enjoy dinner and a movie with delicious bites from A.bento!
