Community Partnership Program
The Vancouver Art Gallery is a reflection of our communities and a place to meet and share ideas. Through art, we create pathways to share perspectives, build and engage communities and shape our collective future together.
The Gallery is committed to establishing partnerships and initiating learning opportunities that invite visitors—of all ages and backgrounds—to expand their minds and connect with others through art experiences. Providing individuals across the region with access to art is core to that mission.
Admission to the Gallery is always free for Indigenous peoples and for children and youth aged 18 and under. Through the generous support of BMO, we also offer free admission for all visitors to the Gallery from 4 to 8 PM on the first Friday of every month. Find out more »
The Gallery’s Art of Wellbeing lab is envisioned as a safe and welcoming space where community members of all ages and backgrounds have opportunities to draw upon the resources of the Gallery and its partners to improve their overall health. These opportunities are delivered through innovative initiatives such as BC Parks Foundation’s PaRx program—which allows healthcare professionals to prescribe a visit to the exhibition Emily Carr: Navigating an Impenetrable Landscape for their patient and a guest—and Art At Any Age, which promotes healthy aging in seniors through communal art-making activities and physical movement in response to artistic ideas. Through the generous support of Canada Life, the Gallery’s Community Partnership Program provides complimentary admission to non-profit, equity-seeking organizations that serve historically marginalized communities. The program provides a Gallery Membership to partnering organizations and invites their communities to visit the Gallery any time, free of charge.
