Artist Scam Alert

The Vancouver Art Gallery is aware of fraudulent emails being sent to artists by individuals falsely claiming to represent the Gallery.

These messages may appear convincing. They have used the names and titles of actual Gallery staff and have referenced real Vancouver Art Gallery exhibitions and artists. In some cases, they may also link to legitimate pages on the Gallery’s website.

These emails are not from the Vancouver Art Gallery.

If you are unsure whether a message is legitimate:

• Do not click unfamiliar links or open attachments
• Do not provide personal or financial information
• Do not send artwork or make any payments
• Contact the Gallery directly to verify the invitation

Suspicious messages can be forwarded to curatorial_dept@vanartgallery.bc.ca for verification.

We are aware of the issue and are taking steps to address it. Please share this information with artists and colleagues who may be affected.
