Accessibility at the Gallery

The Vancouver Art Gallery commits to providing equitable access to everyone. We actively support accessibility, anti-racism, 2SLGBTQAI+ inclusion and encourage diversity in our staff, visitors, volunteers, and programming. We cultivate a safer space where all voices are heard, valued, and represented.  The Gallery stands against hatred, discrimination, racism, homophobia, and transphobia.

Plan your visit and know what to expect with our Vancouver Art Gallery Visual Walkthrough, created in partnership with Canucks Autism Network.

CANUCKS AUTISM NETWORK RESOURCE KITS

CAN Resource Kits are available to borrow at the Admissions Desk upon arrival. These kits include sensory items and visual communication tools to assist guests throughout their visit to the gallery.

To place a request, please reach out to Adult Public Program Coordinator Stephanie Bokenfohr through email sbokenfohr@vanartgallery.bc.ca or call (604) 662 4700 and mention the date and time of your upcoming visit so we can prepare a Resource Kit for you upon arrival. We ask that visitors provide notice at least 3 business days in advance so we can ensure the Resource Kits are ready for your visit!

EXHIBITION MATERIALS AND AUDIO DESCRIBED TOURS

Exhibition didactics and labels are available to access through your own device on our mobile guide.

The Gallery offers Audio Described Tours to make the exhibitions more accessible to non-visual learners, as well as to Blind and Partially Sighted guests.

We believe it is important to provide these acts of service and care to welcome all people, and, as such, this tour can be enjoyed as an accompaniment to anyone’s visit to the Gallery.

We invite your feedback! Please reach out to learn@vanartgallery.bc.ca with any comments.
