Unscrolled: Reframing Tradition in Chinese Contemporary Art

Tradition in Chinese contemporary art is transformed by individual experiences, contemporary challenges and present-day concerns. Unscrolled features three generations of Chinese artists who have been trained in both Western art history and Chinese tradition and who engage with their cultural past as a continuation into the contemporary. Cézanne and the Modern: Masterpieces of European Art from the Pearlman Collection
February 14 to May 18, 2015

Henry and Rose Pearlman built an exceptional collection of modernist works, the jewel of which is an astonishing group of twenty-four works by Paul Cézanne. This exhibition marks the first time in over fifty years that the collection has travelled and the Vancouver Art Gallery showing will be the only one in Canada.
