Summer Ambassador Program
Gallery Ambassadors work in our lobby greeting and orienting visitors on exhibitions and programs, and also special events such as Opening Receptions and FUSE.
Commitment:
6 months
• May, 2013–September, 2013
• Shifts: 4 hour shifts, 1-4 times a week

Join the Gallery Ambassador Team this summer for the duration of our highly anticipated exhibition Grand Hotel: Redesigning Modern Life (April 13-September 15, 2013).
The Program gives the applicant the opportunity to interact with visitors from all over the world, and a chance to learn more about the Vancouver Art Gallery, and its exhibitions and programming. This goal will be accomplished by working closely with the Visitor Experience Team under the direct supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator and the Tourism Marketing Manager. Regular evaluations, both formal and informal will allow for a productive and fun learning experience. Gallery Ambassadors also receive unlimited access to the Gallery and will be given opportunities to participate in industry events and the 14th Annual Tourism Passport Challenge on behalf of the Gallery.
Duties will include:
• Assisting Admissions & Membership •
Manning the Information/ Concierge Desk •
Welcoming and informing visitors of what is happening in the Gallery •
Conducting Visitor Satisfaction/ Experience Index surveys •
Data entry •
Assisting with functions and special events at the Gallery
Qualifications:
• Intermediate English Level •
Friendly and outgoing with an interest in knowing more about the Vancouver Art Gallery and our exhibitions and programs •
Confident in public situations •
Interest and/or background in Tourism & Hospitality •
Excellent customer service with ability to problem solve

INFORMATION SESSION FOR FAMILY PROGRAM - Tues, February 5, 2013, 7pm
For: FAMILY FUSE WEEKENDS Mar 2 & 3 and June 8 & 9 / THE MAKING PLACE every 2nd & 4th Sunday of the month/ and SPRING BREAK PROGRAMS March 18 to 29
You are invited to come and learn about our Family Programs by attending this Information Session where Laura Minta Holland, the Family Programs Coordinator, and her staff will share with you their philosophy and outline how you can volunteer for these events at the Gallery. Prepare to be engaged and changed by this volunteer experience! How To Apply:
1. Below are all volunteer positions within the Vancouver Art Gallery. All available positions have an application form link that says “click here” that you will need to complete. All fields with an asterisk symbols are mandatory fields and your application will not be accepted unless the application form is complete. If you are applying for more than one volunteer position you will need to complete the application form associated with each open position.
*Please note that all positions below will indicate whether we are accepting new volunteers or not. If we are not accepting volunteers for that particular position the application form will not be received.
2. Make sure you are able to make the commitment. Our volunteers are required to make a minimum commitment for each of the volunteer positions listed below.
3. Make sure you are eligible. You must meet these requirements: • Be fluent in English • Be able to commit • Be able to attend orientation and any training • Be eligible to volunteer in Canada

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Docent Progam
A challenging and dynamic six-month training program prepares volunteer docents to lead school tours through the exhibitions. If you enjoy talking about art and working with young people, have an open mind and can make a two-year commitment, this program may be for you.
Commitment:
2 years
• Training: Tuesday’s 12:30–3pm
• Shifts: Monday–Friday, 8:45-11:45am or 12–3pm

Tour Liaison/ Workshop Assistant Tour Liaisons welcome school groups and prepare them for their visit to the Gallery as well as assist during art-making workshops for students. Tour Liaison/Workshop Assistant shifts are three hours long on weekday mornings and afternoons.
Commitment:
6 months
• Term 1: January–June or Term 2: September–December
• Shifts: Monday–Friday, 8:45-11:45am or 12–3pm

CHILDREN AND FAMILY PROGRAMS
Art Agent Volunteers
Every Saturday Art Agent Volunteers work together with the Art Agents to facilitate children’s early encounters with art. Bold, whimsical and funny volunteers are needed!
Commitment:
6 months
• Term 1: January–June or Term 2: July–December
• Shifts: Saturday, 11am–4:30pm

The Making Place Volunteers
The Making Place features both collaborative and independent art activities. Program instruction includes materials and instruction for all kinds of art making.
Commitment:
3 months flexible schedule
• Shifts: Second and Fourth Sunday, 11am–4:30pm

Family FUSE Weekend Volunteers
Expect the unexpected and consider the absurd as artists, dancers, musicians, filmmakers and other creative artists lead workshops, performances, tours and activities proving that there are no limits to the imagination.
Commitment:
4 months
• Family FUSE Weekend runs 3 times a year
• Shifts: Saturday & Sunday, 9:30am–5pm

Gallery Store / Art Rentals & Sales
Volunteers in the Gallery Store help organize the display of new products, assist visitors and support the retail sales staff.
